                              AVG Anti-Virus Instructions

Before installing AVG be sure to uninstall any anti-virus program that you may be currently using.

AVG can be found at www.filehippo.com  Click on AVG, under "Popular Downloads" or "Anti-Malware", and then click "Download Latest Version" on the right side of the page.  When doing that you will be presented with this caution at the top of your browser if you are using Microsoft's Internet Explorer.

"To help protect your security, Internet Explorer blocked this site from downloading files to
your computer. Click here for options..."

Click on "Click here for options" then click "Download File."  In the next window that appears, click
on "Run" and follow the subsequent directions.

If you're using Firefox as your default browser when you click on "Download Latest Version" another
window will appear where you will click on "Save File."  After it downloads then double click on the file
to start the install.

After agreeing to the language and License Agreement, click on "Custom Installation." then Next.  Type in your name then click Next twice.  If you have Microsoft's Office 2000, 2003 or 2007 you might want to place a checkmark next to that for additional protection.  Click Next and remove the checkmark from "Install AVG Toolbar, then click Next.  It will now start the installation.  Be patient for a couple of minutes.

When the next screen appears it will ask you when you want to do a weekly virus scan.  Set the day and time (be sure your computer is on at that time).  If you would rather do a manual scan at your discretion, choose Never.  On the next page take away the checkmark next to "I agree to provide....", then click Finish.

You are now protected against viruses.  If you use conventional email clients, you will notice that AVG scans each incoming message.  When doing a search in your browser you will also notice a green checkmark next to links that tell you it is safe to click on it.  If you see a red checkmark it is telling you the website is unsafe.
