Welcome to the September 2011 Edition of Cyber News, an ad free, spam free online magazine emanating from Stanley's Studio in Phoenix, Arizona. In Cyber News we'll try to pass along some useful tips and information about your computer, the Internet, computer products, digital photography, other related topics, and some stuff that's not related at all. You may not receive an email notification for the October edition of Cyber News as I'll be on the road on a photo adventure and giving an out of state photo seminar. The issue will be posted however on October 1st, so if you have Cyber News bookmarked as a favorite you will be able to access it. Cyber News is always on the Internet, just like any other site. The weather certainly has been the topic of conversation this summer. Powerful thunderstorms with thousands of tornadoes throughout most of the Nation, fires and dust storms in the West and of course the big headline was Irene. Over two million people had to leave their homes with great concern on what things would look like when they returned. Days before Irene was the Capital's earthquake! I don't know who Amy Stenoien is but she was quoted as saying: "The Weather Channel says the East coast earthquake was caused by an unknown fault line running under D.C. and Virginia. It is now being called Obama's Fault, though Obama will say it's really Bush's Fault. Other theories are that was the founding fathers rolling over in their graves or that what we all believed to be an earthquake was actually the effects of a 14.6 trillion dollar check bouncing in Washington!"
Last month Steve Jobs resigned as CEO of Apple, because of his ongoing battle with pancreatic cancer, but will stay on as Chairman of the Board. Technology salutes you Steve as being one of the giants in the industry! I simply love my iPhone & iPad, and look forward to the iPhone 5 to be announced soon. More about Steve's announcement from the Wall Street Journal. Speaking of the iPad I have just discovered something very exciting! I have been giving computer and photo seminars for years, but lately have wondered if it would be possible to use the iPad instead of my laptop. I googled the question and found an Apple presentation program called "Keynote." I further searched and found that I could import my Microsoft Power Point presentations into Keynote. Then to my surprise I found an iPhone app that will remotely control the presentation on the iPad. The real cool thing is that it will show the next slide before it appears on the big screen which is a real speaker's advantage, and I can control everything from anywhere in the room holding just the iPhone. Those attending my "ABC's of Digital Photography" seminar at the Quad Cities Computer Society on October 3rd will see this technology in action.
iPhones have been a sensation since day one! You'll hear someone almost everyday say "Oh I have an app for that." Well, here's a new twist. You can now mount a Canon or Nikon lens on your iPhone. Picture this. A huge lens mounted on this little cell phone? Cool idea or stupidly awkward, you decide! Will
the new Samsung Galaxy S II be the next king of cell phones? Widely
touted as the true iPhone-killer, Samsung’s new Galaxy S II is finally
coming to the U.S. -- with the bite to back up its bark. Samsung’s

August 30th at its flagship New York store in the Time Warner Center,
announcing carriers AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile will begin shipping

This is a great example of today's photo technology, and is pretty amazing! The photo was made up from 216 shots all stitched together.
